Name a Roach

In New York, the Bronx Zoo is hosting the “Name a Roach” event, where you can name a cockroach after your Valentine.

The original gift option is a digital certificate that will name a Bronx Zoo Madagascar hissing cockroach for your loved one. It’s considered to be the original name-a-roach gift, complete with a digital certificate.

A full gift package includes a roach plush, two pairs of roach socks, a printed certificate with your roach’s name and a very crawly Valentine’s Virtual Encounter on Feb. 10, 11, or 14 with a Madagascar hissing cockroach and a surprise animal guest.

Check out all the roach gifting opportunities on the Bronx Zoo website.

In Texas, the San Antonio Zoo is also hosting its Cry Me a Cockroach Fundraiser.

This fundraiser lets people symbolically name a roach, rat or vegetable after their ex or not-so-special someone. The San Antonio Zoo will then help squash your past, a true heartbreak healer, by feeding your selection to an animal resident. This fundraiser received international attention last year. This year, it promises to be even more sensational, according to the website.

As a part of your $5, $10, or $25 donation, you will receive a digital downloadable Valentine’s Day Card showing your support for the Cry Me a Cockroach Fundraiser.

Your donation to our Cry Me a Cockroach Fundraiser will continue to help San Antonio Zoo in its mission of securing a future for wildlife.

Be sure to follow the zoo on social media @SanAntonioZoo on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok to view more Cry Me a Cockroach content and share the fun on social media with hashtag #CryMeACockroach and tag @SanAntonioZoo.

Will you show someone how much they mean to you by naming them after a cockroach? Have we missed any Cockroach Valentine events? Let us know in the comments or at pmpeditor@northcoastmedia.net.
