The crow (Corvidae) is considered to be one of nature’s most intelligent birds. They have been known to:

  • Drop nuts with hard shells into the street and wait for vehicles to crack them open.
  • Post a lookout when feeding to warn of approaching danger.
  • Create several partially constructed decoy nests, even though their nests are not easily seen in trees until the leaves drop. Predators of adult crows include eagles, hawks and owls, all of which a murder, or group, of crows will mob in an attempt to drive away.
