Rid-A-Bug Exterminating Co. VP Marty Roberts received the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award, which is presented annually to recognize the efforts of a group or individual who shows outstanding community service and volunteerism.
According to Duke Energy, the award is “a tribute to those who make a difference in the community by using time, talent, and compassion to positively impact the lives of others. Recipients of the award help foster a culture of citizenship and service that acts as a catalyst for others to become involved in civic and social activities.”
The Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award recognizes outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over a 12-month period.
When introducing Roberts at the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce meeting where he received the award, Harry K. Suddreth said, “[Roberts’] involvement and dedication to every project is evident by his actions. He is actively involved with the planning process all the way through the execution and finishes up by sweeping floors, washing dishes, or taking out the trash. He’s typically the first one there and the last one to leave.”
In addition to his duties as VP of Rid-A-Bug Exterminating Co., Roberts also is an at-large member of the board of directors for the National Pest Management Association, vice president of Mercy and Truth Ministries, board member of the Buck Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, board chair elect on the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce Board, and an active member of Thanks To Calvary Baptist Church. He also was a past president of the North Carolina Pest Management Association, as well as previous chair of the Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival.
