A one-hour webinar on cockroach control will take place June 7 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. It’s the latest installment of the FMC True Champions First Friday webinar series, and it will be presented by Dr. Johnalyn Gordon, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Florida (UF).

Per a news release, Dr. Gordon will “cover the ins and outs of cockroach biology, identification and management. Specifically, she will explore the identification of some key pest species, cockroach biology and habits, including risks cockroaches pose to human health, and provide a review of control strategies. Understanding the health risks associated with cockroaches, the conditions that can help cockroaches thrive in the home environment and the current literature on control techniques will help pest control professionals implement the most effective management strategies.”

Dr. Gordon earned her bachelor’s degree in wildlife ecology and conservation, and her master’s degree in entomology with a focus on termite biology and control, at UF. She received her doctorate in entomology from the University of Kentucky, where her doctoral research focused on bed bugs and cockroaches and their potential health impacts on humans.

As with all FMC First Friday webinars, “Cockroach Control” is free to attend; however, only FMC True Champions members can receive continuing education unit (CEU) credits. FMC True Champions have an opportunity to earn CEUs in selected states. At press time, approved states include Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah and West Virginia.

Registration for the webinar is now available.
