The 11th International Conference on Urban Pests (ICUP) has extended the deadline date for submissions of abstracts to Oct. 30. ICUP seeks work abstracts that make a significant contribution to urban pest science. The abstract is not for publication, but simply for initial consideration by the ICUP committee.
Potential presenters will be informed by Nov. 15 of the acceptance of their abstract, a suggestion to move an oral presentation to a poster (or the reverse), or rejection of the proposed abstract. For accepted talks, final manuscripts will be required by the end of January 2025.
The committee aims to highlight urban areas as environments where biodiversity is perceived as both an opportunity and a threat. In these areas, the public is in close contact with other species, so ICUP is interested in ideas to quickly develop technologies that shape the relationship between humans and these other species. To reflect this, ICUP 2025 will have a general theme of “Smart and Sustainable Management of Urban Animals.”
The ICUP was founded by 2024 PMP Hall of Fame inductee Dr. William H. Robinson. Next year’s event will take place from June 29 to July 2, 2025, in Lund, Sweden.
Those interested in presenting a paper or poster at the event can submit an abstract of their proposed presentation via the abstract portal on the ICUP 2025 website.
