Allergy Technologies, based in Ambler, Pa., is offering free ActiveGuard Mattress Liners to Philadelphia Eagles fans traveling to the Super Bowl to protect against bed bugs.
ActiveGuard Mattress Liners work on any bedding including mattresses, air mattresses, box springs and sofa beds.
“You simply fit the liner over the bedding and pull down on the edges of the liner to ensure a tight fit, like a fitted sheet,” said Joseph Latino, president of Allergy Technologies. “You then make your bed with sheets, blankets, et cetera, as per usual.”
According to the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), 38 percent of Americans are concerned about encountering bed bugs while traveling, as the bugs can leave behind itchy, red welts and increase their risk of infection from scratching.
“We are excited our hometown team is in The Big Game and want to do our part to ensure fans traveling to the Big Easy protect themselves and their loved ones,” added Latino.
According to the company, ActiveGuard Mattress Liners kill bed bugs and are proven to prevent bed bug infestations from spreading. The liners are treated with permethrin, the same ingredient used globally on mosquito nets and clothing to protect against insects.
“It is important to note that bed bugs do not discriminate and can be found anywhere there is a warm body and a bed,” said Dominique Sauvage, senior vice president at Allergy Technologies. “Five-star hotels, roadside motels, rental properties and luxury mansions are all susceptible to bed bugs, which are notorious hitchhikers, meaning they travel on people’s clothing, in luggage, and by various modes of transportation.”
The liners are available to the first 500 fans who register here.
