Thomas Pest Services joined forces with Hodges T-Shirt & Apparel, Morabito Lawn & Tree Care and the Hudson Elks to support the annual Backpack Giveaway, helping local students in need in the Chatham and Ichabod Crane School Districts start the school year prepared for success.
The Backpack Giveaway, founded last year by Hodges T-Shirt & Apparel, began with a mission to ease the burden of back-to-school costs for local families. In its first year, 80 backpacks were distributed to children in need. Thanks to growing community support, the initiative expanded this year, providing 100 fully stocked backpacks for students. In addition to the main giveaway, the businesses donated 20 backpacks directly to the Chatham and Ichabod Crane School Districts to ensure more students had the tools they need to thrive in the classroom.
Sarah Thomas-Clark, vice president and co-founder of Thomas Pest Services, said in a release, “Supporting our community goes beyond pest protection—it’s about helping local families feel secure, cared for and ready for the future. We’re honored to partner with fellow businesses and give back to students in such a meaningful way.”

The Backpack Giveaway was held prior to the start of the school year at Hodges T-Shirt & Apparel, where families gathered for the first-come, first-serve distribution. Organizers say they hope to see the effort continue to grow each year, with even more local businesses and community members joining in to support area youth.
