Much like humans, cockroaches need resources — food, water and shelter — to survive. Denying these commodities should be the first step to control an infestation. Pest professionals have access to various products to handle any cockroach infestation. Liquids, borates and baits can be appropriate depending on the situation. They also can be used in conjunction with one another. However, ensure products are used correctly. For example, borates shouldn’t be used on food-handling surfaces. Traps, which are versatile tools to manage an infestation, can be used initially during an inspection to identify species and after treatment to monitor population changes.
