Bee Buzzes by White House Lawn; Panic Ensues

Pest management professionals know bees are pollinators that need protection. So does the President of the United States, who discouraged children from swatting a bee who happened to buzz by while he was reading them Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are” during the White House Easter Egg Roll. In a video posted on The Washington Post website (go to the 2:43-minute mark), you can hear President Obama advise the panicked children, “It’s OK guys. Bees are good. They won’t land on you. They won’t sting you.” Alas, they remain unconvinced and the screaming continues. Apparently, these kids didn’t get the memo.
