If you offer residential mosquito treatments, three tips to prepare for a successful season include:
1. Manage customer expectations. Determine whether you can meet your customers’ expectations, and avoid any claims of complete mosquito elimination or disease prevention.
2. Reducing mosquito-breeding sites is a critical responsibility shared by you and the homeowner. Provide information about how to recognize and reduce conducive conditions.
3. Know your risk. West Nile virus (WNV) and eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) are examples of mosquito-borne diseases. Newly emerged diseases, such as Chikungunya, are also a concern. Understand risk factors such as age and geographic location to protect yourself and customers.
