Policies have been put in place to protect honeybees, however maybe what they really need are tiny seatbelts. Yet another truckload of honeybees has crashed – this time in Washington – killing thousands of the pollinators. A truck carrying about 14 million bees overturned en route to a blueberry farm where they were being sent to pollinate the crops, according to The Seattle Times. Honeybees often are trucked from California to Washington to pollinate fruit, berry and vegetable crops, the report says. More than 100 trucks travel through the state with the precious cargo, the president of the Washington State Beekeepers Association is quoted as saying. Each year a few crashes occur, according to the report.

I would think that they would get better truck drivers, we can’t afford to lose any of our pollinators as we are losing them to many other factors.
