Students at a high school in Maryland pulled a senior prank that really bugged teachers. Approximately 72,000 lady beetles were let loose in Chopticon High School, The Guardian reports. Authorities determined five students broke into the school before the school day began to release the insects. Janitors spent much of the day cleaning up the mess with backpack-style vacuums and four of the students were charged with “fourth-degree burglary, property destruction under $100 and disruption of school activities.” Lady beetles are available for purchase online, as gardeners use them to control undesirable pests such as aphids and mites. Several seniors helped pay for the bugs, which cost about $100, according to reports.
