If you watch ‘Bob’s Burgers‘, the animated Fox-network sitcom (currently cleared for a 7th and 8th season!) about a family-owned urban burger joint, you might have noticed that each episode offers a visual pun directly related to the pest industry. One of the running gags of the show is that the businesses on Bob’s Burgers block change regularly. Typically their names are silly puns — the kind you might hear spouted by Sherman and Mr. Peabody on the old ‘Rocky and Bullwinkle’ show — so bad, they’re funny. In every post-season-1 episode, the opening sequence features a Ford Econoline commercial van, with a pest management company’s name emblazoned on the side. Every episode gets a new pest control company (with the same truck) with more ridiculous puns. It’s a fun running gag and a great resource for upstart companies looking to name their new business. (We’re kidding of course, though we’d love to hear from any companies with a name like: Last of the Mousehicans.
A full slideshow of every company appears here on the Bob’s Burgers wikia.com page. Some of my favorites include: LaVermin & Shriley, Hit the Rodent Jack, The MiceMan Cometh, The Great Ratsby, Working for the Squeak-End and, finally: Jake and the Ratman (–because who’s made a ‘Jake & the Fat Man’ reference since 1985?! Kudos, BB!) Scroll through the images of the uniform trucks for outlandishly named companies and you just might find yourself considering changing the name out front to: Once, Mice, Three Times an Exterminator.
