The (Cockroach) Race to the White House

NJPMAcolor1-300x296Tomorrow I’ll be flying to New Jersey for the 69th Annual New Jersey Pest Management Association (NJPMA) Clinic, Tradeshow and Clambake. There will be lots going on at the event, including expert speaking engagements from familiar names like Dr. Rick Cooper and Dr. Dini Miller. But the oddest aspect of the event would have to be the presidential cockroach race that will occur under the big tent at noon.

Two Madagascar “hissing” cockroaches bearing paper images of candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will “race for the White House” in the NJPMA Cockroach Derby. The race is used as a tongue-in-cheek predictor of the actual presidential race outcome. Ridiculous as that may sound, prior race prediction success stands at 84 percent(!). So — if you want to be the first to know, and save yourself hours of watching CNN on election night, look no further than the PMPPestTalk blog tomorrow for the outcome of this year’s presidential election. (Actually, don’t hold me to that.)
