We love little stories like this one; where a PMP goes above and beyond with heartwarming results. Maybe file this under “CHEESE” – but sue me. It’s a nice story.
A woman in the United Kingdom’s Somerset, Rosemary Cox, thought she’d never see her wedding dress or related wedding memorabilia ever again. Somewhere in the midst of moving from Berkshire to Somerset, these precious personal artifacts were lost. Cox, 60, had not seen the dress in which she’d wed her husband, Tom in nearly three decades. She had written it off as being lost to the passing of time.
Enter Rod Smith, owner of Humane Pest Control Solutions (in Berkshire). Smith was called upon by an estate agent to deal with a wasps’ nest in an empty Berkshire home. While in the attic of the home, a box in a corner of the attic intrigued him. Upon closer examination, he found the box contained a wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, and mementos of a wedding. There was also a newspaper clipping of the wedding announcement. This served as enough of a clue to Smith who was able to use Facebook to track down Rosemary and Tom.
The tearful bride was reunited with these invaluable reminders of one of the most important days of her life after 28 years of thinking them gone for good.
The U.K.’s Daily Mail reports Mrs. Cox said:
“I can’t tell you how excited and emotional we both felt. He’s a delightful man and I couldn’t believe he’d not only discovered the box, but then also taken the trouble to retrieve it, clean it up, find the story from the newspaper inside and use it to find us. It was like a fairytale!”
Cox continues by adding that neither she nor her husband could work out what had happened to the box of wedding garb, and eventually resigned themselves to the conclusion it had become lost during several moves.
“But now it has reappeared and we are over the moon!”
A PMP magazine blogger was reported as saying: “AAAaaaawwwwww!”
Hats off to those PMPs who regularly go out of their way to do a little extra when they see an opportunity.
