Customers turn to pest management professionals with delusionary parasitosis, skin conditions, mosquito bites and worse — suspecting every one is a bed bug bite. Tips to help overcome this include:

  • Give yourself time to perform a thorough inspection.
  • Use monitors everywhere possible.
  • Have a policy about not diagnosing bites, with a thorough explanation why, for your employees and customers.
  • If you don’t find bed bugs, offer customers something to ease their mind: For example, provide information on bed bugs and what they look like in each stage, upsell encasements, or offer a monitoring service or additional monitoring devices.
