The control of bed bugs is a challenge even for the most experienced and talented pest management professional (PMP). It requires thorough inspections, good preparation and meticulous applications — and even so, retreats are not uncommon.
Among the many reasons for treatment failure are poor technical skills, poor product selection, unrealistic pricing and poor customer cooperation. The need for customer participation in bed bug management is much greater than for most other pests. The client must assist in allowing access to all areas, removing clutter, laundering bedding and clothing, and in some cases, disposing of contaminated items.
Bed bugs can be eliminated, but success depends on an effective partnership between the seasoned PMP and the motivated client.
