Work like an ant

Pest management professionals (PMPs) who provide ant control are keeping busy this year.

Despite a coronavirus pandemic that kept many out of many customers’ homes earlier this year, PMPs were able to continue to provide exterior treatments.

Now that many customers are allowing technicians indoors to handle the ant issues many never knew they had until forced to follow state-mandated stay-at-home orders, our industry is making up for lost time.

Included in the Ant Management Supplement that appears after p. 44 of this issue is a look at how some PMPs offered ant management services during the early days of the pandemic. Because exterior treatments are key to gaining control, companies that offered these services were able to maintain customers and revenue.

Special offers for exterior ant inspections were another way PMPs continued to maintain accounts until they could resume interior treatments. This was a smart move, as the National Pest Management Association predicts weather conditions this summer may result in an uptick of ant pressure in every part of the country except the Northwest.
