Try bait, nesting materials for snap traps

When using bait for snap traps, remember that less can be more. You don’t need much bait, just about a kidney bean-sized portion. Using too much bait can hinder trap performance. If one bait isn’t working, don’t be shy about switching it up.

In addition to protein-based baits, don’t forget to get creative and try nesting materials. Try fabric scraps, packaging materials or cotton balls. Adding vanilla extract to nest materials can help “sweeten the deal.”

Finally, it’s the more, the merrier, when it comes to trapping. Multiple placements increase your likelihood of a catch, particularly on the first night.
