Depending on the region of the country, our view of termites and termite-related damage can be quite different. Subterranean termites usually enter our homes through plumbing penetrations, foundation cracks, expansion joints, high moisture areas or outside around the foundation perimeter. They can travel long distances — while continuously feeding on wall studs and other cellulose materials — and their presence can remain undetected for months, if not years.

Successful termite control treatments always start with a thorough inspection of bath traps and plumbing penetrations, which in many cases require creating access points and using tools such as borescopes and inspection mirrors. Once you confirm termite activity through visual inspection, refer to the termiticide product labels of your choice to select the best treatment options, concentration, volume and tools, and determine the time required to complete the job.
