Target Specialty Products is planning on having two upcoming webinars in February and March.

February 24

Target Specialty Products will host another installment in its Business Growth Webinar series on Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. EasternThe topic is “Assessment-based Pest Management: A New Way for PMPs to Approach Treatment.”

Tommy Powell, technical field specialist at MGK, will be the speaker for the webinar.

For years, pest management professionals (PMPs) have been using principles of integrated pest management (IPM), which is based in crop production, to treat both residential and commercial spaces.

Powell will introduce the idea of assessment-based pest management (APM) — a treatment approach that takes into account what PMPs experience in the field to best manage zero-tolerance pests like cockroaches and bed bugs. In this webinar, attendees will learn what APM is, how to identify different levels of infestation and create the most effective approach to quickly again and maintain control for accounts.

Powell joined the MGK team as a technical field specialist in 2016, where is responsible for training, field testing, customer support and other internal projects. He received his bachelor of science and master’s of science degrees in urban entomology from the University of Florida. Prior to MGK, Powell spent 16 years in the pest management industry, including as a technical director for three Top 100 pest control companies. He also held the position of branch manager for one of those companies.

Heather Alonso, BCE, Target Specialty Products

Target Specialty Products will host installment in its Business Growth Webinar series on March 24 at 1:30 p.m. Eastern. The topic is “Building a New Technician Training Plan.”

Heather Alonso, BCE, technical training manager at Target Specialty Products, will be the speaker for the free webinar.

Alonso is a board-certified entomologist with Target Specialty Products. She graduated from Clemson University in 2004 with a degree in agronomic systems. She has been in the industry for over 15 years in various roles that focus on technical training.

Alonso will discuss how hiring has been a challenge for many industries during the pandemic. Pest management is no different. Once companies find a quality staff, it can even be more challenging to get them from inexperience to competent PMPs. In this webinar, Alonso will discuss not only the technical side, but also tips for building an effective new employee training program.
