Successful termite control applications require careful planning and strategic thinking. When dealing with obstacles such as rebar, post-tension construction, radiant heating systems, marble floors, and water lines, it’s crucial to use the right equipment to create an effective barrier. This is especially important when dealing with subterranean termites.

Using directional tips, such as four-way or 180-degree tips, will guide the formulation flow in known directions. This is useful when treating interior walls and porches, as it enables the formulation to reach foundation cross walls and effectively treat areas under non-load bearing walls.

Straight tips are useful when targeting specific locations in a void, angle drilling, or when distance is needed to “hit” a target zone. By using the right amount of pressure (typically under 50 psi) with the stream of a straight tip, you can apply the formulation where you need it.

When it comes to proper termiticide application, the key phrase on the label often is “complete coverage.” Choosing the correct tip for treatment is typically left up to the technician, making equipment training essential. Understanding the limitations of each type of tip is beneficial for everyone involved and can lead to a more successful outcome.
