Pest Management Foundation opens 2023-2024 scholarship applications

Pest Management FoundationThe Pest Management Foundation opened applications for its 2023-2024 scholarships.

The Foundation is the research arm of the Fairfax, Va.-based National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and is generously funded by pest management professionals worldwide. Founded in 1961 as the Buettner Pest Control Foundation, the mission of the Foundation is to support education, research, and outreach in urban entomology and structural pest management across North America and foster collaboration between industry and the research community. Its executive director is Dr. Michael Bentley, BCE, NPMA’s director of education and training as well as Pest Management Professional‘s “Callback Cures” columnist.

All applications are due Nov. 30, 2023, and recipients will be announced in mid-January, 2024. Details and application instructions for all scholarships can be found at www.npmapestworld.org/scholarships.

All-American Pest Control Steam Trailblazer Scholarship

The All-American Pest Control STEAM Trailblazer Scholarship is a distinguished program that honors and empowers outstanding young women with a drive to excel in science, technology, engineering, arts or mathematics (STEAM). This $1,000 scholarship is a platform to uplift young women who embody All-Americans’ core values of servant leadership, thoughtful innovation, respectfulness, teamwork and reliability while nurturing their passion for STEAM education. All-American Pest Control is a female-led company and aims to celebrate and support one remarkable female individual as they pursue a career in STEAM.

Arrow Exterminators Endowed Scholarship

From humble beginnings in 1964COMMA when the company started in the back of a beauty parlor, Arrow today operates in 12 states with 165 locations and revenues exceeding $350 million. Part of Arrow’s mission has always been to support the communities that support the company. This scholarship is another way of doing just that, giving back to those communities. Arrow Exterminators supports this $1,000 scholarship that carries the name of Arrow’s chairman, Joe Thomas — also a Pest Management Professional Hall of Famer (Class of 2009) into the future in perpetuity. This scholarship is designed to be complimentary to existing scholarships within Arrow and the industry.

Bruce and Evelyn Bowman Endowed Scholarship
Donor: Bowman Termite and Pest Management

Bowman Termite and Pest Management has generously endowed the Bruce and Evelyn Bowman Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior each year in the state of Hawaii who has a parent or guardian working in pest management.

Daniel J. & Robert E. Klein Scholarship

Andrew Klein has generously endowed the Daniel J. & Robert E. Klein Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior entering college or trade school.

Emily and Hugh Kendrick Family Scholarship
Donor: Emily and Hugh Kendrick

The $1,000 Emily & Hugh Kendrick Family Scholarship is designed to be awarded to a student from one of the Kendrick Family’s home states of Georgia (Emily Thomas Kendrick) or Wyoming (Hugh Cumming Kendrick), or from their adopted state of Colorado.

Joe Thomas Endowed Scholarship

Arrow Exterminators has been protecting the health and property of customers for more than 58 years. Founded in 1964 when the company started in the back of a beauty parlor to operating todayin 12 states with 165 locations and revenues exceeding $350 million. Part of Arrow’s mission has always been to support the communities that supports it. This scholarship is another way of giving back to those communities. Arrow Exterminators supports this $1,000 scholarship that will carry the name of Arrow’s owner, Joe Thomas, into the future in perpetuity. This scholarship is designed to be complimentary to existing scholarships within Arrow and the industry.

New Jersey Pest Management Association Pest Professional Stewardship Scholarship

The New Jersey Pest Management Association has generously endowed the New Jersey Pest Management Association Pest Professional Stewardship Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior in the state of New Jersey entering the field of professional pest management who also has a parent or guardian working in pest management.

Pest Management Foundation Scholarship
Donor: Pest Management Foundation

The Pest Management Foundation Scholarship Program awards up to five scholarships of up to $2,000 each, to outstanding students at accredited entomology programs at U.S. colleges or universities. In return, scholarship recipients are asked to provide a letter explaining how the scholarship has helped them in their academic and research endeavors.

Sprague Pest Solutions Scholarship
Donor: Sprague Pest Solutions

Sprague Pest Solutions has generously endowed the $1,000 Sprague Pest Solutions Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student each year whose studies focus on urban entomology, rodentology or biological sciences.
