Many stored product pests (SPP) are notorious for infesting food storage areas, including IMM, rice weevils, flour beetles and more. When it comes to stopping SPP from moving in on kitchens, pantries and food-handling or storage areas, prevention is half the battle.

There are several ways PMPs can help customers protect their homes and businesses from severe infestations. Explain to them how routine cleaning and properly maintaining appliances provide the best foundation to help keep insects at bay. Regular garbage disposal and food storage are also major considerations. Utilizing glass, metal or plastic containers that aren’t easily infiltrated helps protect food from SPP.

Remember, these insects are primarily looking for a way to infiltrate bags, boxes, cabinets, pantries and anywhere else food is stored. Securing entry points and scheduling regular inspections are vital to protect food spaces.
