Ben Hicks, who with his wife, Sandy, raised nine children and had 19 grandchildren, passed away April 20 from head and neck cancer. He was 61.
Hicks had been a pest management profession for more than 46 years, with the last 17 years serving as co-owner and operator with Sandy of Nashville, Ind.-based All Seasonal Pest Control. He had previously spent 22 years as proprietor of Michigan City Pest Control, which is now part of Franklin Pest Solutions.
His obituary recalls how Hicks “spent his life helping and supporting others while seeking no recognition. He could hold a conversation for days and talk your ear off on a topic of choice with anecdotes to entertain and stories abound. Ben would passionately talk politics, incite laughter with jokes, and inform with his wealth of knowledge. His humble heart reached out to aid others in countless ways, seeing a need and filling it without hesitation. Ben loved his family and community and did everything he could to make sure other people were well cared for. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.”
Pest Management Professional (PMP) Editorial Advisory Board Member and contributor Doug Foster, president of Burt’s Termite & Pest Control, Columbus, Ind., on behalf of the Indiana Pest Management Association, noted that “Ben had a lot of friends throughout our industry and will be missed.”
