After 51 years of service to his family-owned business, Redd Pest Solutions, President Gordon L. Redd Jr. has retired from the Gulfport, Miss.-based company. Redd stated he has “many joyful memories” of working in a pest management business that was founded in 1946. He will remain on the company board of directors.
Through all these years, his goal was to strengthen the “Redd Man” heritage started by his uncle, J.C. Redd, and father, Gordon Redd Sr. He has turned over leadership duties to his daughter and son-in-law, Bevin and Eddie Brewer, who were previously senior vice president of marketing and vice president, respectively. Their son, Tripp Brewer — representing the fourth generation of the family at the company — serves as director of quality assurance. Redd’s son, Trey Redd, works in property and inventory at the company.
Gordon Redd attended Harding University, a Christian liberal arts college in Arkansas. He completed his degree in August 1973 and began his adult career at Redd Pest Solutions. His professional drive and licensing in three states lead him to become the second-generation owner of Redd Pest Solutions.
His industry roles have included board positions in the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and the Mississippi Pest Control Association (MPCA). Redd also served as president of the MPCA.
He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Mississippi Coast Chamber Tapestry Award, honoring his Excellence as a Small Business Leader, and the Small Business Executive Award. In 2020, Redd was inducted into the MPCA Hall of Fame, which recognized his lifetime dedication to the advancement of the Mississippi pest control industry.
