The Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service (CVR MLS) passed a policy that allows QualityPro Certified companies to obtain a CVR MLS Service Provider Limited Access E-Key to conduct termite inspections. Prior to this policy, which goes into effect Jan. 4, 2016, only REALTORS could obtain a Limited Access E-Key for termite inspections.
An E-Key gives a code that, when punched into a lockbox, allows the user to access a key inside of a lockbox. The key can then be used to open the door. Before this policy, a REALTOR would need to be present to use his or her code to let the pest management professional (PMP) in for an inspection. With this policy, the PMP will be able to get a code.
“Our clients expect us to take care of their most valuable asset. We take this responsibility seriously. We take comfort knowing that QualityPro Certified companies hold themselves to a higher standard through business practices like drug testing and criminal background checks,” says Laura Lafayette, CEO of the Richmond Association of REALTORS/CVR MLS. “Adopting a policy that requires more than just state licensure makes us feel really good. REALTORS and QualityPro Certified companies are parallel in many ways — both hold themselves to a higher standard. This new policy is a win for everyone involved.”
QualityPro, in partnership with the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), has been certifying companies across the US and Canada since 2004. QualityPro Certified companies meet qualifications built around four key principles: business operations, consumer relations, environmental stewardship, and technician training.
“This new policy will help REALTORS and homeowners find and work with professional pest management companies. These companies work hard to earn and maintain their QualityPro Certification. We are excited to reward them with business opportunities such as this,” says Allison Taisey, certification program manager for QualityPro.
