Communication with your customer is the first step for identifying and managing stinging insects such as bees and wasps. Your customer typically can help you locate key areas of activity. Carefully inspect the area(s) to identify the insect and determine the proper control measures.
Time of day is very important when managing and treating stinging insects. Timing your service when insects are less active (early morning or evening) will help minimize the risk of being stung. Proper safety equipment also should be worn, especially when working from ladders or if treating during the day.
PMPs who are not experienced with the management of stinging insects or have known allergies should exercise extra caution — or try to avoid these types of treatments altogether.
