The opportunities for women in the pest control industry are seemingly unlimited. From office manager to customer service representative, technician to entomologist, product developer to salesperson, there’s a job suitable for any interest and skill level.
It’s great that women are finding rewarding work in the industry, as hiring and retaining reliable employees has been a challenge for many pest control companies. As a result, the ranks of two groups — Women in Pest Control and Professional Women in Pest Management — are growing fast; see our cover story: Groups support, unite women in pest management.
Getting together, whether in person or online, allows women who work in pest control to share advice, recommend equipment, offer encouragement, seek solutions, and just be there for one another. Talking with other women who have had the same experiences is empowering.
Groups that encourage women to network and support one another are good for the pest management industry, too. They promote professionalism, embrace inclusion and provide lasting friendships. Knowing someone has your back can make all the difference, whether you have years of experience or are just starting out.
If you are a woman who makes her living protecting public health, check out these groups. If you know a woman who is looking for a fulfilling career, do her a favor and encourage her to join.
