For termite spot treatments, there are a variety of options. Use a borate on the damaged wood to prevent wood decay and reuse of galleries. Decayed wood is eaten faster and preferred over sound wood. In addition, decayed wood actually promotes digestion and increases foraging.

Borate wood preservatives are ideal because they prevent the reuse of termite tunnels and stop decay of the infested wood. Liquid termiticides can be used in conjunction with borates. When using termiticide dusts, spray damaged wood with borate after the colony has been eliminated.
