Customer cooperation is key when it comes to successful bed bug control. Make sure to set clear expectations, and explain why a customer’s assistance will help achieve control.

If you’re not doing so already, ask customers to prepare for a bed bug treatment by completing prep sheet instructions. This often includes tasks like using a clothes dryer for linens and bagging them prior to treatment. You can even have them sign a copy of the prep sheet, so there is no confusion. And if you can, make sure the customer is not taking bed bugs out when they leave before a treatment and bringing them back in afterward. Let them know how long they’ll need to vacate their home, and what to expect when they return.

To avoid reinfestations that ultimately produce callbacks, it’s a good idea to always inspect those prepared items before treatment.
