Flagstaff, Ariz.-based SenesTech, a developer of technologies for managing animal pest populations through fertility control, has renewed and expanded its distribution agreement with Agri-Turf Distributing.

The agreement continues Agri-Turf’s marketing, sale and distribution of ContraPest in California. ContraPest is a rodent fertility control product, approved by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR), for sale and use in California under registration #91601-1-AA.

“Agri-Turf’s management team has deep experience in the pest management industry, particularly in the California market, and their team believes in delivering the most innovative technology and products to their customers,” Ken Siegel, CEO of SenesTech, said in a news release. “This makes Agri-Turf an ideal partner as we expand our reach into California.”

ContraPest targets the reproductive capabilities of both sexes in rat populations, inducing egg loss in female rats and impairing sperm development in males. Using a bait delivery method, ContraPest is dispensed in a palatable liquid formulation that promotes sustained consumption by rat communities. According to SenesTech, ContraPest is designed, formulated and dispensed to be low hazard for handlers and non-target species such as wildlife, livestock and pets, where the active ingredients break down rapidly.

“We are excited to add ContraPest as an additional option for pest management programs,” Rich Records, president of Agri-Turf, said in the release. “Partnering with SenesTech is an opportunity to help our customers with their rodent control challenges.”

The companies plan to launch joint marketing and sales initiatives.

“Agri-Turf has been an important distributor for SenesTech, but we are excited to take this partnership to the next level,” Steve Krause, EVP for commercialization at SenesTech, added. “SenesTech has dedicated technical field sales staff to co-call on accounts with Agri-Turf and the marketing teams are developing targeted awareness campaigns to meet the growing demand for ContraPest.”

Most recently, SenesTech is collaborating with Liphatech, a global leader in the research, manufacturing and distribution of pest control products, to develop a non-liquid formulation of ContraPest. Both companies will be contributing resources to the project.
